golden globes: best & worst

Here are my best & worst looks from the Golden Globes! I definitely loved more than I hated. Actually, my list of people who I thought looked fab could go on & on. Who were your favs?!

BEST
Sofia Vergara
Wow! Vegara had my favorite look of the night. I was literally speechless when I first saw her. She knows what works for her and sticks to it.

Reese Witherspoon
Witherspoon just looks great all around. Her haircut is extremely flattering and the green of the dress matches her eyes perfectly.

Olivia Wilde
This is one pregnant woman who knows how to work it. The sequins don't look tacky and the green works amazing with her eyes and hair. I can't think of anything that would make this look better.

Margot Robbie
This newcomer definitely gained some spotlight at the Globes. Her gown is so elegant and the embellishment eliminates the need for any jewelry.

Jenna Dewan-Tatum
Besides the fact that she probably doesn't have an ounce of fat on her body. The structure of Tatum's dress is completely form flattering. The black detail breaks up the simplicity of the white dress.

WORST
Drew Barrymore
I have to say that Barrymore's makeup is on point, but I can't say I love the dress. It just needed to have a tad more shape to not make my worst dressed list.

Paula Patton
This dress is just completely overwhelming. If Patton had gotten rid of that side fluff, the dress would have been perfection with her slim figure.

Sandra Bullock
I just don't like this, but I can't exactly pin point what I don't like. It may be that it's not something I would imagine Bullock in, or the clashing cotton candy pink and blue.

Heidi Klum
Klum is one for taking fashion risks, but this is a risk that just didn't work. The choker with the tacky flowers on the dress is just too much.

New Year's Eve

Hi All,
New Year's Eve is just around the corner & it's time to find that perfect outfit. When I think of NYE, I think of sequins, but that doesn't mean you need to have a full sequin outfit. There are different alternatives to incorporating sequins into your look. Although, I am drawn to black, it's also fun to wear colors, like orchid, the color of 2014. Below are some of my favorite looks to ring in the new year. Enjoy!

dress: TopShop shoes: Debenhams clutch: 6PM bangles: MaxandChloe

dress: Browns jacket: Topshop shoes: Zappos clutch: Cusp ring: Shopbop

holiday party time

It's that time of the season, when there is a lot of parties and events going on. During this time it can be hard to find appropriate outfits, especially for work gatherings. It's almost always a safe bet to pull out the little black dress, but below I have also included other classy holiday looks.

This look is a little more modern and young, but a faux leather skirt is a great investment and can be toned down with a classic sweater.

A basic shirt dress paired with a printed jacket is the perfect combination. You can be more creative in terms of accessories because the dress is so simple.

Faux leather leggings are great because they are comfortable and fashionable at the same time. Since they make a statement, let your legs do the talking & pair them with a basic flowy blouse.

Plaid done with right away can be amazing. This is a classic holiday look that would work for any occasion.

Since the little black dress is so simple, you can amplify the look with accessories. A faux fur jacket is a  great way to add a little bit of glamour.

What look is your favorite?

splurge vs. save

It's always exciting to splurge on a designer bag, but it's also rewarding to find a great bag at a great price. I can almost guarantee you that if you find a bag that is out of your price range, you can find a similar version for much cheaper- it may not have all of the fancy hardware, or the embellished tassel, but it the other similarities make up for it. Check out the styles below and invest in a great piece or save & buy two!

fur vests

Whether we like it or not, we are going to be seeing a lot of fur vests this winter season. Faux or real, these vests are a great way to dress up an outfit and add character. They can be worn with everything from a pair of jeans to a LBD.  Fur vests can be a little intimidating-atleast they were to me at first. One thing I have noticed about fur vests, which may make it easier to find which one is right for you is that there are different "levels" of fur intensity. One being "that is great fur accent" to five being "oh I didn't see you under all that fur". Whatever level you may be, fur vests are a great way to look cute and stay warm this winter season! What level are you!?

Fall Ankle Booties

Now that the cold weather is upon us, at least on the East Coast it's time to whip out the boots. Boots hold a close place to my heart, as I have worn each pair of every combat boot that I have ever owned until the sole fell off. Boots are great because they are so versatile. They can be dressed up or down and   vary in boot and heel height. Today's post is focusing on heeled ankle booties, which I have been seeing so much of this season. All of the boots below can be worn so many ways-from the office to Sunday Funday activities.

splurge vs save-sunglasses

Sunglasses, the perfect accessory for the day at the beach or for the struggle bus after a night out. One great thing about sunglasses is that there are so many colors, sizes, and shapes to chose from. I have always been one to buy cheap sunglasses, but once I got a pair of RayBans that all changed. None the less, I can never pass up a cute $5 pair that I see in Forever 21. Whether you are on a budget or like to splurge, here are sunglasses that fit everyones budget.

more maxi!

This post is all about maxi's...the best known secret to summer fashion. Maxi's are great because  they are super easy, you don't really need to match anything to them or dress them up-they are a complete outfit on their own. Secondly, they keep you mildly cool while your hair expands to the size of a chia pet. Lastly, the have cute details that make every dress unique, such as cut-outs, varying necklines, and different embellishments. I could go on & on about the benefits of maxi's, but you should really find out for yourself. Below I posted some of my favorite maxi's showcased in four different looks.

splurge vs steal

Lately I have been obsessed with ankle strap pumps. They have a very simple design with a strap near the toe area and one just above the ankle. I think they are flattering on everyone and the ankle strap provides a stylish detail. I have seen them in multiple stores, from Target to Bloomingdale's. Although some of us can afford an expensive shoe, just as many of us are on a budget. No matter your price range you can find an ankle strap heel to rock this summer.
