AMA's : Love and Hate

As I am sitting here watching the American Music Awards, I thought I would do a quick little post on some of my favorite and not so favorite looks. When I started reviewing everyone's outfit's I realized that there was a lot more hits than misses. Although that's a good thing-it's always entertaining to see celebs who completely miss the mark.

LOVE

Katy Perry

I love this dress. I think it is perfect for the event, a mixture of playful and classic. The nail post I did here would have matched perfectly.

Taylor Swift

I feel like this dress is not something Taylor would normally wear, but she looks great in it. The mini dress length shows off her legs and the sequins are totally age appropriate.

Lady Gaga

Don't ask me about the horse, but this is the best Lady Gaga has looked in a while. I'm not obsessed with her dress, but more so-her makeup and hair. It's clean and simple and you can actually focus on her and not what she's wearing.

HATE

Kylie Jenner

I shouldn't say I hate this outfit because I don't. I think it would be great for dinner or a night out, not the AMA's. It's just a little too casual for me and a smile wouldn't hurt either.

Heidi Klum

Heidi usually takes risks, probably because she looks good in everything and I applaud her for that. However, there is just too much going on here and I definitely prefer her in color compared to black.

Aubrey O'Day

There are 2 reasons Aubrey made it to my hate list- I'll let you figure them out.

splurge vs. save

It's always exciting to splurge on a designer bag, but it's also rewarding to find a great bag at a great price. I can almost guarantee you that if you find a bag that is out of your price range, you can find a similar version for much cheaper- it may not have all of the fancy hardware, or the embellished tassel, but it the other similarities make up for it. Check out the styles below and invest in a great piece or save & buy two!

Since I fell off the radar for a little bit, I have some great nail art that I did while I was MIA from blogland. Unfortunately, I don't have the polish names, but I do have photos! I tried 3 different techniques that I have never tried before, so they were definitely challenging, but they ended up being some of my favorites.

watercolor // This nail art if pretty fool proof. You choose a few different colors, blob them in random spots on your nail, and then use a brush dipped in nail polish remover to mix them together. Viola!

flower stippling// Ahh this one requires patience. All it requires is a few colors, a dotting tool, and a whole lotta time to make dots. Mr. Candiipants did it better than me.

water marble// this one is one of my favorite of all times, but it was very messy and time consuming. Everything has to be just right for it to come out. For this technique colors are dropped into a cup of water, swirled in a design to your liking and then sprayed with some type of mist that contains alcohol-perfume, antibacterial spray, etc. and then the nail is dipped

fur vests

Whether we like it or not, we are going to be seeing a lot of fur vests this winter season. Faux or real, these vests are a great way to dress up an outfit and add character. They can be worn with everything from a pair of jeans to a LBD.  Fur vests can be a little intimidating-atleast they were to me at first. One thing I have noticed about fur vests, which may make it easier to find which one is right for you is that there are different "levels" of fur intensity. One being "that is great fur accent" to five being "oh I didn't see you under all that fur". Whatever level you may be, fur vests are a great way to look cute and stay warm this winter season! What level are you!?

I'm a day late with my Halloween nail post, but I wanted to wait so that I could link up with the The Nail Files! This nail art is really simple, requiring only black and white polish, but doing the eyes were a little tricky. I really like how they turned out and I got tons of compliments on them!

Fall Ankle Booties

Now that the cold weather is upon us, at least on the East Coast it's time to whip out the boots. Boots hold a close place to my heart, as I have worn each pair of every combat boot that I have ever owned until the sole fell off. Boots are great because they are so versatile. They can be dressed up or down and   vary in boot and heel height. Today's post is focusing on heeled ankle booties, which I have been seeing so much of this season. All of the boots below can be worn so many ways-from the office to Sunday Funday activities.

i'm bacccck

I'm bacccckkkk....

Well I never really went away, at least on purpose anyway. Life got busy and blogging actually became a chore. There was a few solid weeks that I actually forgot I even had a blog. Although that is all good because I was more focused on trying new things and keeping myself busy besides the internet, I decided to try it again. I'm not going to try to make a schedule of when I'm going to blog, it's just going to be when I feel like it. Luckily, despite my lack of blogging, I have been photographing my nails since then, so there is a lot of nail art to catch up on.

This is a more recent mani that I did. The base is Essie Beyond Cozy, which is a GREAT glitter. I can't emphasize that that enough. It is also relatively easy to get off compared to some of those other crazy glitters out there.
